openSUSE 11.0 and Ham Radio

The ham radio repository is available for openSUSE 11.0. You can either use one-click or add http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/hamradio/openSUSE_11.0/. Thanks to Tim (DG7GT) and Jan-Simon for making it happen. With out doubt, openSUSE now rivals Debian for the number of ham radio packages available.

Thanks for this link, I recently purchased openSUSE 11.0 along with several training DVD’s in the package. This info on the Ham Radio distro will help get me off my butt to put it on the computer for my PSK rig. It is an oldie (350mhz) so I hope it will run openSUSE 11.0 ok. It runs XP Pro ok along with MixW digital software but that is about all. So here’s hoping openSUSE 11.0 will do the trick for me.

If you are running XP, you should not have a problem with openSUSE 11.0. The real issue is how much memory do you have? My Icom 706 MKIIG is connected to a Micron Transport ZX laptop with a Pentium III, and 256 meg of memory. If you want more information on using older computers, you might want to check out my http://www.bargincomputing.com/ blog.
